Posted 06/08/2017 12:48PM

Rowmark Ski Academy is thrilled to announce junior Katie Hensien joins two Rowmark alumnae on the 2017-2018 US Alpine Ski Team. Katie Hensien is the youngest member of the national team to reach the C Team level designation. Rowmark alumnae Breezy Johnson '13 and Alice McKennis '07 are on the A Team, the highest level of the national team.

This year's team is headed for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

"All three of these fiery competitors represent what it means to be a Rowmarker—grit, determination, and sportsmanship," Rowmark Program Director Todd Brickson said. "And to complete the full package, they are also amazing people."

Katie makes her debut on the US Ski Team after a spectacular season, with her first NorAm top 10 as well as four FIS victories this season in slalom (SL) and giant slalom (GS). She was also the 2015 U16 National SL Champion. Katie will return to Rowmark and Rowland Hall for her senior year when she is not traveling with the national team., "We are excited to support her athletically and academically through this transition," Mr. Brickson said

Breezy returns for her fourth year on the national team, now promoted to the A Team. She is also a US National Champion, NorAm and Europa Cup winner, and already has six top-20 World Cup finishes including a 10th in Cortina, Italy, in January. Breezy injured her knee in a crash at the Aspen World Cup DH in March, but according to Mr. Brickson, her rehab is going well and she is looking forward to returning to snow in the fall.

Alice, now an eight-year veteran of the US Ski Team, is also a World Cup Winner, Olympian, and US National Champion. She's one of the gutsiest athletes on the national team, Mr. Brickson said, as evidenced by her impressive comebacks to the world stage after two devastating leg injuries.

Alice and Breezy will be vying for World Cup podiums and Olympic berths next winter, while Katie will be competing for NorAm titles and cutting her teeth on the Europa Cup circuit.
